SOA gang outing today! It was nice seeing everyone again after we've been sent to our different depots. Rockband, bowling and scott driving crazily all added up to a great day (:
Notwithstanding that I still have my SATs to study for plus my UCAS essay (which is technically due 15th jan 2010, but i want to finish up by 1st dec)
Plus the NS politics in my camp is really getting from bad to worst, and i'm very glad that my team is still unified and fighting the battle on only one front. I can only imagine what will happen if we succumb to pressure and fight amongst ourselves plus fight against another department. We really cannot afford to fight on both fronts.
I think i'm just really tired, maybe i'll take the day off today and just relax. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

[Edit]
I should at least be thankful for small things that make each day a bit better.
1) Training today with the j2s was good, so much more enjoyable than with the j1s alone.
2) Lunch with chailala (: PLUS RAMUNEEEEE

( gym facts? )I hope this explains why i totally bombed at the gym today. I dont think i'm paying back my sleep debt as fast as i am accumulating it.

Png! (:
2) Training today wasnt too good. Collided with jiawei which resulted in a huge PIAK that stopped play almost instantly. Thankfully we're both alright. Other than that everything was so messy today, i've no idea what i'm doing wrong. The theory is right i say! Sigh, everything in its time i say also.
3) I carry a pen and paper with me everywhere i go now. I write down stuff that pop into my head on long commutes to and fro work.
4) With the help of the aforementioned pen and paper, i finished 1/2 my ucas essay in about 1/2 an hour. Now i just need inspiration to strike for my other 1/2. Perhaps a long commute is in order.
5) Yay to meeting png tmr (:
6) Sleep debt calling, double yay.

As usual, we ate until we couldnt eat anymore, but all in the spirit of Team C tradition i say! Only in Team C can you tell how "laojiao" a person is by the no. of Xiaolongbao buffets he has eaten because it's only when a new batch of SA or AT comes in do we go for a buffet. I've gone for 4 already!

It's very interesting to see how the team roster changes each time we go for a buffet. People come in and people ord. It's kinda ephemeral really. But i'm still mostly happy here (:

Yesterday was +6 into debt. Yawnnnnn.
Cohesion tmr yay!
Body in the air and parallel to the ground? Check.
Cleared my mark by at least half a body length? Check.
Master hand outstretched and reaching for disc? Check.
Non-master hand slightly angled ready to roll off the impact of the ground? Check.
Chest landing first followed by knees? Check.
Caught the disc? Not check.
Lousyyyyy, missed by like 2cm? But still, my first layout in donkey years (:

On a side note, i've been studying. SATs II math is really rather easy, despite my detoriating mind. Phy on the other hand is a total pain. I think i wont be applying to US this year, given that the results are released so late in december. I'll do UK this year which means UCAS essay to write. That's going alright now i guess, it's coming out in bits and pieces. I will be done.
2) My SATs II progress is going fine, just completed the Maths Level 1 syllabus + 1 prac paper (which i got 43 sadly, though i must say 2 errors came from jumping straight into the question before reading finish it), the Phy syllabus is a major pain though cause there's so much to recap + new things to learn + no calculators allowed = major pain. Will start on Maths Level 2 once i'm nearing the end of Phy.
3) I think Raph is going back to coach now that Manila is done which translates into 1. Getting scolded by him cause i stepped in to coach 2. Me not going back to coach anymore. Sigh.
Happy (:
Despite yesterday being one helluva of a duty: sleeping at 3.30am sigh, booking out at 1pm double sigh, i came home today to find in my mail:
1) Email replies from overseas monkeys!
2) This on my facebook!

Yi-Ming and Amanda met somewhere in London! It's so amusing to have mutual friends meet. And look D.Y! Haha (:
3) Today's coaching was fantastic. The juniors are really learning. I guess making the switch to vertical stack was good, their dumping, vert offense are all improving. And they're finally listening and incorporating what i teach into their play. Cynthia and Olivia perfectly executed the "side-line trap" in one of their points and it was just wonderful seeing everything fall into place. That much said, there's still a lot of work to be done, timing of cuts, resetting of stack etc, the list can go on and on. But there is still hope for this team yet (:
4) I signed up for winter league! I put my fitness as "will run for a point and then cry for water (or cry)", skill as "can throw a decent mid range throw" and speed as " will run for the icecream man" HAHA, the options amuse me.

Thought provoking and poignant.
1) Duty yesterday was tiring, what with the last unit coming at 0230am and leaving at around 0330. I think i was so tired around midnight that as i took my little nap, i swore i heard the phone ring and one of my teammates answering it and saying, " oh you're not coming anymore? sure, come tomorrow". I was so relieved that the last unit wasnt coming anymore, so relieved that when the phone really rang at 0230, i was quite rudely awakened. And i was so tired when i answered the phone that i could feel myself swaying where i stood. But all in a day's work i guess.
2) Back to point 1, i was so tired that on the way home, i was quite prepared to take a little siesta. So prepared that i really couldnt be bothered about the old lady that just got on the MRT. (I felt really drained). Ironically, as i turned on my ipod, i saw my wallpaper: Be better today than you were yesterday (from thingsweforget.blogspot.com). Oh so very sadly, i offered her my seat. Thankfully, the bus ride home was much better, i managed to sleep the whole way.
3) Training today was better, probably cause there were less people and it was much easier to control them. I'm teaching them vertical stack now cause, in my opinion, it teaches a lot more basic concepts than horizontal. So far, the juniors are responding well to it, its just the resetting that causes problems; that much said though, there were one or two miracle points when the resetting was excellently done and everything fell into place nicely, resulting in an easy score for the offense.
Tortured myself, and everyone, during PT today, made them do the ZeroD cutting thing that jack told me about and a couple of Long-Shorts, so much so that i'm super duper tired now.
4) Re-mugging Physics is really tiring.
5) Tired is my new favourite word.

I want to use these two years to grow, both physically and mentally. Training of the body, mind and soul, so to speak. Socialising and drunken debauchery can take place later, when i'm in university. I think i would like national service to be a part of my formulative years, not so much in the simulated wars/battles that every nomal combat-fit soldier gets to take part in and the lessons of patriotism that come along with it, but as to how much i can grow with the free time that is allocated to the noncombat-fit soldier that i am.
I used to want to be combat-fit, to be able to run and gun, to run through the SOC, to lie in the grass for an ambush, to shoot, to fight. But after being where I am for so long, inertia has set in and, sadly, the grass doesnt really seem any greener on the other side. Yes, i will still fight. I will still bear arms and fight to defend the land. But i dont want to spend every waking moment of my service training for a war.
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
2) Coaching is really difficult, i really hope i'm making a difference somehow. At the rate they're going, the current batch really wont go far sigh. Though, that much said, everything in its time, hopefully they'll surprise me!
3) I found out i put on weight, ZZZZZZZZ SIAN
4) I've been living a hermit life, i havent met anyone outside the frisbee team in like a couple of weeks? I'm either training or reading >< This is compounded by the fact that i'm poor as hell this month, so i guess next month!
5) Did 2 back to back duties over the past few days and i must say i'm rather tired.
6) This amuses me to no end (:

Total damage: 58 dollars (1/4 of my measly pay; the engineering book cost a whopping 38 dollars), but i guess its a small price to pay for the future, compared to the thousands lost if i suddenly decide halfway through that material engineering isnt my cup of tea.
In other news, i've been on an eating spree, what with my parent's constant dabaoing of food home for dinner. Sinful delights heehee.
In other other news, i think i want to learn akido!

2. I've started reading again, not looking for anything in particular, just things that catch my eye. Once i'm done with my latest book (DAN BROWN heehee), i think i'll get Mandela's Long Walk To Freedom. Funilly, my grandfather bought me my latest book. It was quite a funny experience really. He insisted on buying it for me, and i refused. And we did all sorts of stupid stuff haha. But well, he bought it in the end.
Im gonna dedicate an entry to my grandfather one of these days, he really is amazing and also full of crap. How many grandfathers talk to you about girls? Mine. It's a little disconcerting, but amusing in its own way.
3. I should finish up, or more precisely, start, on my essays.
2. I was informed by the Hwachong Alumni that their Youth Wing was intending to set up an Ultimate interest group. I have no idea what that entails but it sure looks interesting.
